Our Work
Project Engineering Projects
Project engineering provides comprehensive technical leadership, managing and integrating multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and efficient solutions. Our team oversees every stage of the project lifecycle, ensuring seamless coordination, quality outcomes, and successful delivery from concept through to completion.
Since 2017, we’ve worked on a wide range of exciting projects. While some of our most interesting work is confidential, we’re pleased to share a selection of projects that we can talk about.
Electric Boiler Install
Working as Project Engineer and Commissioning Agent for the install of a 3MW Resistive Element Boiler at Waikato Hospital. Focus Engineering gathered all the initial information into a specification, did initial layout concepting, assisted with tender evaluations and provided project engineering support thoughout the project, aiding in delivering the boiler on-time and within budget as a significant decarbonisation step for Waikato Hospital.
Automated Railway Workshop
During COVID travel restrictions, the Australian company with the contract to build a new automated wheelshop for KiwiRail could not conduct the critical discovery stage of the project. Focus Engineering was contracted to spend two weeks in Wellington with KiwiRail staff learning and documenting their current processes such that they could be replicated in an automated way in the new machine shop. All the infomration gathered was recorded, organised and reported back to Mebourne such thet the design could start.
Hospital Helipad
In addition to the design scope of the project we also brought together all diciplines of the project in conjucntion with the project manager, including Geotech, Civil, Structural, Electrical, Site and Construction teams to make the pad a reality for the community.
Vascular Surgery Operating Theatre
The vascular surgery operating theatre at Waikato Hospital was at end of life and needed to be re-built with new equipment. Focus engineering was assigned the task to support the P&I Project Managers to engage with all hospital and external stakeholders, understand and document constraints, and write the overall project brief and specification for design and construction tenders.
Equipment Upgrade for Sterile Services Unit
As part of an asset replacement program, the Batch Washers in the SSU were to be replaced. The new equipment were steam heated instead of electric, and had different footprints and drainage requirements. Focus Engineering did the initial investigations to determine what critical constraints were and wrote the project methodology for the replacement program such the ongoing sterilisation services would not be disrupted.
